Great Escapes 2008 Natchez Trace Parkway, TN/MS Wild Roads
This 444-mile national scenic byway stretches from Nashville to Natchez, Mississippi, free of commercial transport, billboards, and traffic. The two-lane road, flanked by oak trees and grassy knolls, follows segments of the original Natchez Trace, a Native American trail that later served as a major trade route. Take side trips into towns like Tupelo, and tour Indian mounds, Civil War battlefields, a cypress swamp, meandering streams, and waterfalls.
