The Archdruid Persists
November 29, 1995
Do you think Americans are as anti-environmental as Congress?
How can we reduce the potential damage of the salvage lumber bill?
Would you pay polluters not to pollute?
How do we get these guys to realize it's their environment too?
How do you see the fight for the environment playing out?
I want to be an environmental leader. How should I start?
How can I--a single, working student--assist in the effort?
How can I--a single, working student--assist in the effort?
Question: As the total impact of our "esteemed" 104th Congress has yet to be seen in the environmental arena, how can I--a single, working student--assist in the effort to save our nation's open spaces (particularly the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge)? I have come to the philosophy (narrow-mined as it may be) that development equals destruction.
P.S. I am already a member of the Sierra Club's San Gorgonio Chapter.

David Brower (247K WAV): Well, think of it as the Arctic wildlife range, which is what we started with in the first place. We need to set a good example for Canada to take good care of what we can't replace. That's the important
part, one of the important parts of Global CPR--Conservation, Preservation, and Restoration--is that we preserve what we can't replace and that we not only undertake to do that, but celebrate our success as we make our progress through the years. One of the things we're forgetting is to celebrate the beauty of this planet. I haven't been on a better one yet and I think we all ought to
begin to appreciate what this planet has done for us, how lucky we are to be on this one.
Just think of what it would be like to be on Venus--where they had a Reagan-Bush administration that thought they didn't have to worry about global warming.
