How and why did you first get started in cyclocross?
Question: Hi Jan. How did you first get started in the world of cyclocross? What is it about the "hybrid" sport (as opposed to road riding) that you find the most appealing?

Elana Cooper

Jan: I did my first cyclocross race in the fall of 1994. I did it to be challenged with a new aspect of riding a bike. It was a way to get some structured intensity during my off-season preparation for the following year.

Cyclocross is appealing because it is fast and keeps you sharp. It doesn't require the same number of hours of training. Cyclocross enables you to develop new skills which may be called upon when you are on your road bike. It is a great group of people, and fun.
