The 1996 U.S. team sails in a big wake of Olympic domination. The total medal haul for the United States is 48, including 21 from the last three Olympiads. In the last Games, the team won medals in nine of 10 events.

Schedule

The sailors
Sixteen men and women will represent the United States at the 1996 Olympic Regatta, scheduled for July 19-August 4, 1996, in Savannah, Georgia.

The classes
For 1996, eight one-design class boats have been chosen for the ten Olympic yachting events: Europe, Finn, 470, Laser, Mistral, Soling, Star and Tornado. "One-design" means that each boat in a class should be identical, allowing the best sailor--and not the best boat--to win.
