Three Spanish police officers were injured in a bomb blast Saturday that exploded just 150 meters from the world cycling championships course.
The car bomb exploded an hour into the women's road race, shattering windows and sending three Guardia Civil officers to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries.
The bomb exploded in a vacant lot just off the race course, and the women's road race continued uninterrupted. There were unconfirmed reports of another bomb attack in the center of San Sebastian.
While racing team personnel in nearby tents said they heard the blast and saw debris flying 50 feet into the air, racers said they didn't know of the explosion until after the race.
No one took credit for the blasts. The terrorist group ETA has been fighting a 30-year campaign to create an independent state for Basque people.
The officers were reportedly driving past in a patrol car when the car bomb went off. Two women and a man were treated for back, thigh, and wrist injuries. Another officer was treated for shock.
