Gearing up for the Tour
Though it ranks in importance behind the national tours of France, Italy, and Spain, the Tour de Suisse is a race to watch closely nonetheless. With the Tour de France just a month away, this is a chance for the big guns to get ready for the sport's biggest contest.

Agno wins Tour de Suisse; Aeborsold wins exciting velodrome stage finish
Frenchman Christophe Agnolutto won the first stage race of his career, while Swiss Postal's Niki Aebersold outsprinted Italy's Mauro Bettin (Refin) in an exciting velodrome finish of the final stage.

With just one stage remaining in the 10-stage Tour de Suisse, Oskar Carmenzind gained time on race-leader Christophe Agnolutto, but not enough to catch him.

Stage 8 — June 24
Aldag has his day in the rain
Telekom's Rolf Aldag won Tuesday's eighth stage of the Tour de Suisse, holding a break over the final 25kms. Christophe Agnolutto (Casino) of France survived a wet day to keep the goldtrikot leader's jersey.

Stage 7 — June 23
Steels steals one from Zabel; Agnolutto still leads
Mapei’s Tom Steels bolted past Telekom’s Erik Zabel in the final 200 yards to win in a field sprint in today's stage. France’s Christophe Agnolutto (Casino) easily kept the leader’s jersey.

Extebarria wins weather-shortened course; Zulle breaks collarbone
Alex Zulle broke his collarbone in a crash during today's stage, and likely will miss the Tour de France. Meanwhile, Christophe Agnolutto (Casino) managed to keep the leader's jersey again.

Gontchar nips Ullrich in TT
Ukraine time-trial specialist Sergei Gontchar (AKI) covered Saturday's 18.9-mile course in 39 minutes and 30 seconds, nipping rival Jan Ullrich by just .27 seconds.

Stage 4 — June 20
Ullrich pops for win; Agnolutto retains goldtrikot
Former amateur world champion Jan Ullrich had his first stage win of the year today, allowing him to move to third overall. A struggling Christophe Agnolutto managed to hold onto the leader's jersey but admitted he likely will lose more time in Saturday's time trial.
