Mild Stability
If the 769 were a coffee drink, it'd be a quadruple espresso. That highly caffeinated feel is due in part to a lightweight midsole compound and deep flex grooves under the toes. Which is not to say it's jittery: A midfoot shank and a dual-density medial post provide a touch of stability for pronators, but the effect is subtle, not overbearing, and testers loved this shoe for tempo runs or races. And if you feel that New Balance's fit has been too high volume in the past, give it another chance. The last on this shoe (and several other NB models) was redesigned this year for a closer, more performance feel. 11.8 oz; newbalance.com
