Stargazing
By David N. Schramm
The slushy season on earth begins with a heavenly event: the vernal equinox, occurring at 3:03 A.M. EST on the 20th. The Moon will be full on the fifth. Two days later, it will rise a tardy two and a half hours after sunset, leaving the early-evening sky exceptionally dark and ideal for viewing. Watch for Venus, brilliant and high in the west-southwest sky for most of the
month, and Saturn, very low in the southwest for the first few days. Jupiter will be bright in the southeast just before sunrise.
