Bulletins
Sweet Georgia Set the adrenaline pumping on a new five-day heli-ski adventure in the Republic of Georgia's Caucasus Mountains-and while you're at it, learn from trainers who teach the Professional Ski Instructors of America. Dates are December 28 to January 4; the cost, $2,995, plus airfare. Call the North American Ski Training Center at
916-582-4772.
Adopt-a-Critter Give the gift of an endangered species this holiday season. Adopt a finback whale for $30 and receive its sighting history, an 8-by-12 glossy photo, and an adoption certificate. Or for $25 you can "give" a satellite-tagged green turtle and track its migration from Florida to the Caribbean via the World Wide Web. For whale
details, call the College of the Atlantic at 207-288-5644. For green turtle information, call the Sea Turtle Survival League at 800-678-7853.
Viva la KOA It's not exactly roughing it, but Kampgrounds of America's first Mexican facility is a safe way to head south of the border on a tight budget. Two and a half miles west of Acapulco, the new KOA is perched on a private beach and has hot showers. Look for eight more Mexico KOA sites in the near future. A tent site costs $7 per night; a
full RV hookup, $15. Call 011-527-483-7830 for details.
