Outside Magazine Names Conservation Alliance As Green Issue Donation Recipient

Santa Fe, NM (January 24, 2007) Outside, America's leading active lifestyle magazine, today announced a special environmental newsstand initiative tied to its first ever "Green Revolution" issue. In an unprecedented commitment to the environment, Outside will donate one dollar of each April issue sold on newsstands* to The Conservation Alliance, a non-profit organization of outdoor businesses that supports efforts to protect wild places throughout North America for their habitat and recreational values.

"Outside is pleased to celebrate our anniversary by making a significant contribution to the world Outside, which has been our inspiration for 30 years," said Lawrence J. Burke, Founder and Chairman of Mariah Media, Inc.

In Outside tradition, the April issue will explore and deliver the concept of "green" in a proactive, relevant, bold and humorous package. The unparalleled edit lineup in this philanthropic issue will focus on solutions rather than documenting the world's environmental ills. Outside will introduce readers to new, sustainable products and technology including wave powered electricity, a zero-emission SUV, sustainable clothing and green gear, the future of solar power, and how to navigate the emerging carbon market.

"For 30 years, Outside has inspired readers with stories about wild places; through this partnership, those readers can help protect some of those places," said John Sterling, Executive Director of The Conservation Alliance. "We'll use the funds to support the place-based conservation efforts of our grantees."

This special donation is another exciting facet of the magazine's 30th Anniversary celebration in 2007. Also part of the anniversary line up is the release of a new China edition, a fall Buyer's Guide to compliment the successful summer guide, as well as the launch of Outside's Go, the first travel and style magazine written exclusively for affluent, active men.

*Outside will feature this promotion in participating states and will donate up to $50,000 to The Conservation Alliance.
