Going Places

Counting the days

Dispatch from Morgan Beasley — June 13, 1997
Well, it's been a long time since our last journal entry and a lot has happened since then. We found out who our guide from NOLS is. She is a pretty well-known instructor named Del Smith.

I am feeling really excited as the trip rolls near. We have been doing exercises and working, so I am getting in much better shape every day. I am going to be gone so I will miss a big chunk of training from the 15th to the 21st of June to a Rotary Orientation in an old summer camp. Dan, who lives three and a half hours away is coming up on the 22nd and living with us, so we were cleaning out the big basement room, Expedition Central!

I've been feeling really stoked about this whole thing and it seems like the whole summer is going by so fast. We only have about three weeks until we leave for the NOLS Northwest camp.

I came up with the idea of a Adventure Grants Alumni Association, with a bimonthly news letter and everything. So the participants in past adventure grants could get together bull#*&% about their adventures and give advice to prospective teams and new teams online or by regular mail. If anybody has any questions e-mail me at mbeasle@pacifier.com. I will try to answer as many as possible.
