Going Places

One month and counting

Dispatch from Michelle Olson — June 16, 1997
The kayak trip was fun. It's not the real one; that one will be going on soon. This was just an outing. It was my first time in a kayak. I didn't find it to be that difficult. I found it very humorous when Bill swam all that way and then needed help. He was out there waving his hands and this speedboat kept driving by him, taunting him.

The clothes from Patagonia are very nice and equally as warm. I put on all my stuff and — well let's just say I was really warm.

We also received some forms from the NOLS camp that I'm supposed to fill out, and one my doctor has to fill out. I already went to my doctor before the papers came for a physical, so now I have to go back and I get to get a tetanus shot, yay. I hate going to the doctor.

On the fourth of July we are all planning a going-away party before we leave which will be fun. I'm shocked out how big this whole thing is. When I wrote the essay with these guys I had no idea! It is very exciting. Only one more month until it all becomes real.
