Charles Bridge, Prague

Constructed in the mid- to late-1300s, the Charles was the first stone bridge to span Prague’s Vltava River. Originally, only a simple crucifix adorned the structure, but about 30 statues were added over the next couple of centuries at the urging of Catholics. Now, at least 75 sculptures decorate the expanse.
